What is parquet?
FEP has made substantial efforts in the past to obtain the establishment of a European Norm (EN 13756) clearly specifying that a wood flooring product can only be called “parquet” if its real wood top layer is at least 2.5 mm in thickness. This endeavour allowed securing and safeguarding the quality image of parquet versus other flooring alternatives on the market, as well as versus panoply of imitations.

Why buying Refinishable Program certified parquet?
Because parquet, thanks to its minimum 2.5 mm real wood top layer, is resandable. This is an inherent advantage of parquet compared to other floorings. Parquet is a long-life wood product whose durability can be extended through refinishing. Refinishing also allows renovation to update color & style.
Why buying Real Wood certified parquet?
Because the “Real Wood” logo certifies that a product has a top layer of genuine wood.
The FEP Real Wood initiative aims to raise awareness about the benefits of using real wood flooring over alternatives, including fake wood/wood look products.
The initiative emphasizes that real wood is a renewable, sustainable, and carbon-storing material, contributing positively to climate goals.
It supports transparency and traceability in the wood flooring industry, encouraging responsible sourcing and production practices. It is also in line with the Wood4Real initiative.
